The University endeavors to enliven the great academic tradition of the
educational institutions of the golden era of Muslim Civilization and

Muslims’ contributions in the field of sciences, particularly revival of
medical and other scientific, social and management fields. Moreover,
Shaheed Hakim Mohmmed Said symbolized the ethos and aspirations of the
Pakistani nation and their fulfillment as enshrined in the creation of the
country by Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and ideals set forth by poet
philosopher Allama Iqbal. Shaheed Mohammed Hakim Said in essence, carried
the spirit, which guided the Muslim renaissance in the subcontinent through
education by late Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. Pakistan idea according to Shaheed
Hakim Mohammed Said could only come to fruition if education becomes the
hard rock of its foundation, harmonizing the imperative of modern life and
the quintessential values of Islam.
The university attracts the academic faculty of the country as well as time
to time international scholars and world leaders, who are not only competent
in their fields but are models for students to emulate , who ignite the
sprit of quest and enquiry and lay heavy premium on creativity and
innovative thinking. The university doors are open for students of all
strata of society, irrespective of faith and creed, but without compromising
on merit and competence – the hallmark of academic culture. They are
committed to tolerance for other’s views and ideas and for preserving the
values that sustain a pluralistic society. It is an institution where
liberal and modern values are promoted but without stripping its Islamic
character and identity. Hamdard University is a very cohesive academic
family where teachers and students operate in a team spirit to promote the
higher ideals of education and help build a community of achievers to “Help
Pakistan and Build Pakistan”.
